Baby Jesus!

"When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the sheperds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.' So, they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child." ~Luke 2:15-17

Last night, Fowler had the priveledge of representing Baby Jesus in our church's Christmas play! He did a great job...he stayed quiet until the end of the final carol...then he let out a joyous squeal! His cousin, Jacob, was a serious sheperd (to the right of Fowler). The bottom picture is of Baby Jesus and Mary (aka Miss Melinda!). Everyone did a great job in the play...a great reminder of what Christmas is all about!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!!

All bundled up! Eagle Ridge hosted a Christmas caroling program (in the outdoor pavillon). We dressed in several layers and sang our hearts out (Fowler, too!) It was a wonderful time!
I have added lots of pictures on the blog today. Make sure to scroll down and check them out...It has been a while! Enjoy!!!

Even though he likes to cut up and laugh, Fowler is still quite serious. He is curious and likes to check things out. The other day, we were shopping and the salesman said that Fowler was making him nervous/intimidating him by his stare! :) Posted by Picasa

He looks like he is about ready to get into something here! Posted by Picasa

FIVE TEETH!!! Fowler has five teeth now. We have friends who say they never even knew that their daughter was getting her first teeth until they were in...well, that isn't true in our case!!! Fowler's teeth have made him miserable at times. Here Fowler gives the camera a mischievous grin!!! Posted by Picasa

Cousins Landon and Fowler hang out on the floor. Neither of them look thrilled to be photographed! They are about 5 1/2 months apart. What precious boys! Posted by Picasa

Mr. Jack-o-lantern!! Fowler was a jack-o-lantern for his first Halloween! Thanks to Aunt Annie who found him the perfect outfit! We trick-or-treated at a couple houses, but Fowler had a cold and wasn't up to much more. But didn't he make the cutest pumpkin? Posted by Picasa

With his hair slicked down, Fowler is ready for church (actually, it looks like he is ready for a nap!!). Posted by Picasa

Touchdown!!! Fowler learned how to call a touchdown...too bad Illinois wasn't making many of these this season! Posted by Picasa

Mr. Style lounges after a day of socializing!!! His new friends, Jason and Sarah, got married...so, Fowler went to his first wedding and reception! Posted by Picasa

Fowler had a lot of fun playing outside this fall. He really loved it when I put up the fall decorations...for some reason, this plastic pumpkin brought him much joy! Posted by Picasa

Big Foot!!!

Well, Fowler is quickly approaching 7 months!! It is hard to believe! And he is growing up so fast! People say that he is starting to look more and more like his Mama...but I still see a little Dewayne every time I look at his face! He certainly has the same cheeks that Dewayne had as a child! Fowler seems pretty balanced in personality...pretty serious but loves a good belly laugh! For those of you who keep track of the numbers...at his last doctor's appointment, Fowler weighed in at 22lbs 7 1/4oz (97%) and 29 1/2" (97%). So, he is a solid boy!
I have been slacking a bit on posting pictures. I have added a few others tonight, so be sure to scroll down. But keep checking back often (or daily, as I know a lot of you do!)...I promise to keep posting! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!!!

In August, we celebrated Grandma's 87th birthday...in addtion to the first Annual Lutz Family Reunion. We had a great time! There was a great turn out even with the short notice. A birthday party and the Family Reunion are already on the calendar for 2006...so hopefully, we'll get to visit with even more family next year!!
Of course, as you can expect from a family of bloggers, we took lots of pictures! I am so far behind on posting...so I will just post a few. The first is the Eadie clan with Grandma - the birthday girl! We wished that the Cougle clan could have been with us...I think we might have been able to fit them in the picture! :)

Fowler had a blast watching cousins play baseball in the yard...and being passed around from relative to relative!! Here he is hanging out with Grandmother!
(Here's a funny little side-note...a couple months ago, we visited Dewayne's family in Kentucky. We went to church on Sunday morning and were thrilled with the attention that Fowler received. He was being passed around from one person to the next...even people that I didn't know! That's when I realized just why he was being passed along to the next person...because HE WEIGHS SO MUCH!!! People don't realize how much he weighs until they have been holding him for a few minutes...then it's time to pass him on!! )

Funny Glasses!

This pictures may not be too clear...but it is so hilarious that I just had to post it!! Fowler is ready to hit the books...sporting Mama's glasses!!! He took them off of my face, so I put them on him. Dewayne and I started laughing hysterically. At first, Fowler wasn't sure why it was funny...then, he got in on the laughing, too!

Fowler and Daddy are twins!!! These pictures will forever bring us great laughs! Hope you enjoy them, too!

A Walk in the Park

We went for a walk in the park tonight. It was such a perfect night...nice and cool! And Fowler always enjoys a walk (ride)! He was cute...he kept turning around in the stroller to see if Dewayne and I were still there! I had the camera ready!

$5 Thrift Store Find!

Fowler was needing a new highchair...and I was dead-set on getting an old wooden one! Well, we lucked out today. I found this one at a thrift store for only $5!! I love it! I scrubbed it up...the tray has some wear and tear (I call it "character"). Fowler tested it out tonight...it works!

Help send some smiles (along with some words of encouragement) to Kari! For each month that has 31 days, we have designated the 31st "Kards for Kari Day".

The goal is to get as many people - those who know Kari and Aaron personally, have a connection through family and friends or others who are who have been impacted by Kari's injury - to send her a greeting via "snail mail".
You can send a greeting card, a letter, or postcard and feel free to include a photograph or maybe a drawing from a child!
Try to get the card mailed so that it will be received the 31st of the month, but if you don't make it or decide to mail it before that...it's ok...send a card anyway!

Our first month with 31 days is the current month of August so mark the date now! We'll post reminders on Kari's website.

Send all cards to:
Karen Morris-Guzman
Room 304-Bed A
Craig Hospital
3425 S. Clarkson
Englewood, CO 80113

Thanks again for your endless prayers and e-mails!
Information compliments of www.weloveyoukari.org !

FOWLER ROCKS!!

Fowler is now 6 months old!! It's hard to believe it. Time has passed so quickly. Never a dull moment around here. There's a continous roller derby going on in our living room. It's hilarious to watch Fowler roll non-stop until he hits the wall or couch...then he'll turn around and roll back the other way!
I took several pictures the other day of Fowler wearing his custom-made (by Mama) onesie! FOWLER ROCKS!! This is the best of the pictures...I should have had the camera in "sport mode" because Fowler wouldn't sit still for a shot!

My Handsome Boys!

It feels like we have been living out of suitcases this summer!! We have been away from home for the past seven weekends. Fowler has done a great job being on the road! He is a trooper! I have a lot of pictures to share. But for now, here are Dewayne and Fowler plopped on the floor after a long drive back from Kentucky!

Kari Makes Front Page News!!!

My friend, Kari, is scheduled to be moved to her rehabilitation site in Denver today! That shows great progress...but of course, there is a long road ahead for her! She and her husband made the front page news...Press Enterprise in Riverside, California wrote the following:

Teacher seeks prayers to help his wife
ACCIDENT: A Redlands associate pastor shattered her vertebra in a vehicle rollover in Kansas.

HURT IN CRASH

KARI MORRIS-GUZMAN, an associate pastor at Brookside Free Methodist Church in Redlands, suffered a serious spinal cord injury in an accident last month.

DONATIONS to help the family pay for ongoing medical costs can be sent to: Brookside Free Methodist Church, 75 Tennessee St., Redlands, CA, 92373.

INFORMATION: on Morris-Guzman's condition is updated online on a regular basis at http://www.weloveyoukari.org./ A link to the hospital e-mail system is included on the site. Information on how to make donations also is included.

Gage Middle School teacher Aaron Guzman and his wife, Kari, planned to fly to Ethiopia this weekend to help the poor and sick.
Now they are the ones who need help.
A rollover accident that occurred as the couple vacationed last month left Kari Morris-Guzman, 31, with a shattered vertebra. She is struggling to breathe on her own and has developed pneumonia. Doctors say she likely will not walk again.
Guzman hopes prayer may be the answer and is asking for everyone to join in the effort to help his wife, an associate pastor who works with young people at Brookside Free Methodist Church in Redlands.
"I need people that are going to be committed to praying for her for a long, long time," Guzman, 26, said.
July 17 started out as a good day, Guzman recalled. After attending a wedding of a friend in Leoti, Kan., the couple was headed to Morris-Guzman's parents' home in Omaha, Neb. The pair sang along to classic rock tunes on the radio of their rented convertible as they traveled through the Kansas countryside. It was just three days before their third wedding anniversary and they were enjoying time together, Guzman said.

Special to The Press-Enterprise
"I need people that are going to be committed to praying for her for a long, long time," said Aaron Guzman, left, about his wife, Kari Morris-Guzman, who is struggling to breathe on her own and has developed pneumonia following an accident on July 17.
Moments later, everything changed. A pickup stopped suddenly in front of the couple on the two-lane highway. Guzman, who was driving, swerved off the road to avoid hitting the truck. The convertible flipped over in a ditch and landed upside down. The windshield collapsed onto the couple and both had to be pried from the wreckage. Guzman suffered only minor injuries, but his wife could not move.
Morris-Guzman's fifth cervical vertebra was shattered in the accident. She has been able to rotate her forearms and can use her biceps, but cannot move much else below her chest, Guzman said. Doctors are trying to wean her off of a ventilator.
Friends and family have helped immensely, Guzman said.
"That's been the thing that's sustained us," he said.
Soon after the accident, phone trees and a Web site were started to keep well-wishers informed.
"We've gotten e-mails from people we don't even know," Guzman said.
Among those offering support are the staff, parents and students from Gage Middle School, where Guzman is a popular music teacher. The school's PTSA plans to donate proceeds from items sold at an upcoming Spirit Night to the family, Gage Principal Chuck Hiroto said. Plans to create bracelets to show support for the family are also in the works. Meanwhile, fellow Gage staff members and other district music teachers are outlining lesson plans and readying Guzman's room in case he is not able to return to work at the beginning of the school year.
"It's heart-warming, it's heart-wrenching at times, but it's just amazing," Hiroto said of the support offered to the Guzman family.
Those who know the couple said they are not surprised that so many people want to help because the couple has worked so hard to help others. Both have helped others in their community and have also gone on missionary trips with their church.
Guzman said his wife continues to help others, even as she lies in her hospital bed.
"She's sort of the one keeping us all together," he said. "Everyone's really sad, but she's just been really brave. She's really confident that she's going to get better."
