Hydronephrosis, No More!!!

Fowler had went in for an ultrasound on his kidney again yesterday (to continue monitoring the hydronephrosis found inutero). By the way, hydronephrosis is the dilation of the inside (collecting part) of the kidney...it is usually caused by a blockage in the ureter or by abnormal backwash or reflux of urine from the bladder. We had been told that many times the condition will "work itself out" within the first year of life...but could potentially cause damage to the kidney, if not monitored. So, that's the reason for the tests! Since the u/s yesterday did not show any abnormal dilation, they did another procedure/test to determine whether or not the condition cleared itself up! For the first time I was glad that Dewayne wasn't there. The procedure was very uncomfortable for Fowler...poor guy! There were three of us holding him down, in addition to the doctor and assistant. He cried and cried!! What they did was a retrograde urography...basically, they inserted a tube with radioplaque dye (that can be seen on x-rays) into his private part! OUCH!!! They took x-rays on the kidney, bladder and urethra...and by watching the flow of the urine, it looks like his urinary tract is normal! We were very excited to get that news!!! If tests would have shown blockage, then surgery would have been the next step. I am glad we don't have to go through that! So, that's the update! And by the way, Fowler is fine...there was not pain or soreness for him after the urography (thank goodness, since he is working on cutting his first tooth right now!!!).

Fowler sat up by himself for the first time today!! You can see the progression in the picture collage. He was pleased! Aunt Annie and Kevin were visiting...so, I guess he felt the need to show off! The little guy is growing up!!! Posted by Picasa

"Little Pharaoh!" That's what we call Fowler when he is in his hoodie bath towel...or in this case, when his shirt is half way off, but stuck on his head! Posted by Picasa

He has mastered the rolling over...now, I am afraid that one of these days, I'll look down and he'll be crawling!! Posted by Picasa

Fowler is a tall boy! Pretty soon, he'll be passing up Mama and Daddy! ;) Posted by Picasa

He loves big boy food! Sometimes, it can be disastrous when he decides to feed himself. Here, he got a hold on the spoon of carrots! Yummm~ Posted by Picasa

Marge requested pictures of Dewayne's family's cabin. We were there last Saturday to prep it for upcoming Family Camp. I didn't take too many pictures...but I think you get the idea. Nothing fancy. Dewayne's grandfather built the cabin in the mid '50s. It sits on a Free Methodist campground in Indiana.  Posted by Picasa

It needs some repair...but the cabin holds some special memories for Dewayne and his family. Dewayne spent most summers as little child running around the campground and staying in the cabin. We hope that Fowler might be able to have some of the same experiences that his Dad did. Posted by Picasa

Farmer Fowler!!! We went to visit Grandmother and Pop on the farm. Fowler got the chance to play on some farm equipment...like all kids should!! :) Maybe in the fall, he will get his first ride in a combine!! Get ready, Uncle John! Posted by Picasa

Fowler is hanging out (holding his toes is his favorite past time) in the wheel of the John Deere planter.  Posted by Picasa

We got to visit with Great Grandma and Aunt Marge (sorry, you didn't make any of the photos!) while we were there. We ate Monicial's Pizza and had a great time! Marge took more pictures and posted them on her blog...check it out! www.mmp52.blogspot.com Posted by Picasa

Fowler has hit another growth spurt...just in case you couldn't tell by the photos!! :) He has outgrown his infant car seat!! He was way too long! His head came to the very top and his feet were hanging out the bottom! Here he is in his new convertible car seat. This one is supposed to last up to 100 pounds...hopefully, that won't be anytime soon! Posted by Picasa

It was a jam session! Dewayne and Fowler's first duet! Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday, Jacob!! He turned 5 years old on the 2nd. Dewayne, Fowler and I went down to Kentucky for his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese!!  Posted by Picasa

Drew cheeses it up for the camera! Posted by Picasa

When you get an email from Dewayne or me, please forgive us if there is some mumble jumble or mis-spelled words...Fowler has taken a liking to the computer. He thinks it's pretty cool to play with the keys. Posted by Picasa

Mr. Green Beans!! We have started trying out some solid foods...yum yum! It took Fowler no time at all to get used to it. He wants to feed himself...but that gets a little dangerous! Posted by Picasa

A day in the park!! Aunts (Annie and Grace) and Cousins (Kevin and Levi) came to visit/babysit during my last week at work. Fowler had a great time with his big cousins...they built him all kinds of fun play areas...look for "MACHINE 2005" coming to stores soon! :) Posted by Picasa

A little late in posting this...but here are Daddy and Fowler on Father's Day. Fowler loves hanging out with his daddy. He gets the belly laughs when Dewayne plays with him. Posted by Picasa
